Plas-y-Nant Excursion Leaders Book

Lists of Daily Notices and Duties

The following list of Notices and Duties were written for the "Plas-y-Nant Excursion Leaders Book" (1951-1952).  They give an insight into the comprehensive organisation of each day that was a feature of Plas.  "Notices" were the detailed information announcements made throughout the week to ensure that guests knew what was planned.

Notices

Saturday Tea

Ration Books (whited out at some point), Pink slips and Board money to Auntie Lena (subsequently changesd to "hostess") in Office.  £2.50 Excursion Money Deposit to Leaders in Sun Lounge (subsequently changesd to "Drawing Room").  Evening Walk about 7.15 - bell will be sounded.  Give Supper Time.  Supper not to be confused with the Manchester Coach peoples tea in Dining Room.  Fun and Games; Announcements and Family Prayers in Rec. after Supper.

Saturday - in Rec After Supper

Explain differences between "Plas" and other Homes.  Give explanation of "A", "B" & "C" parties and sandwich lunches.  Give programme for coming week including evening activities (C.E. Meeting, Fancy Dress  - if any - Concert).   Point out to "knitters" that £2.50 will not cover expenses.  Thos e who have not yet paid the £2.50 i.e. Manchester Coach people, will be relieved of same on Monday.  Give tennis and garage charges.  Ask Walkers to observe the Country Code (Shut gates, don't climb walls, leave no litter etc).  Ask for details of any private walking parties.

Sunday - Breakfast

Time of walk around lake (typically 10.30).  Recommend stout shoes.  Give Dinner Time.

Sunday - Dinner

C.E. Prep meeting.  "Elephant" party (if any) - Tea Time.  Sign Monday's Excusrsion List.

Sunday - Tea

Gents wash up.  Service time.  Supper time.  What's on after SUpper (Any questions ? - Sacred concert?)

Monday - Breakfast

Group photograph.  Excusrion times.

Monday - Dinner

Sign Tuesday's Excusrsion List.  Five a-side.  Fun & Ganes in Rec after Supper.  Collect furthe £2.50

Tuesday - Breakfast

Excusrion times.

Tuesday - Dinner

C.E. meeting.  Supper Time.  20 Questions after Supper.  Sign Tennis, TAble Tennis and Photograph list and Wednesday film.

Wednesday - Breakfast

Number out for lunch.  Lunch Time.  Tennis and Table Tennis Time..

Wednesday - Lunch

Number in for Tea.  Special Bus Time.  Ask Special Bus passengers to have 40p ready.  Tea Time.  Fancy Dress ? after Supper.  Sign Thursday's Excusrsion List.

Excusrion times.  Concert Reminder

Thursday - Dinner

Concert Time and Concert Items..

Friday - Breakfast

Anybody not going on Excusrion.  Give Excursion Details.  Stop at Beddgelert for Fishermans Walk.  Lunch at ?  Afternoon at ?.

Friday - Dinner

"Pay-Out, Pay-In" in Sun Lounge (susequently changesd to "Drawing Room").  Supper Time.  Last Fun & Games in Rec.  Any taxis required for tomorrow morning ?

Friday - After Supper

Braekfast Times.  Bus Times.  Manchester Luggage in Coach First.  Have Ticket Ready.  Comradeship Talk.

Complete last weeks book-keeping and settle bills.  Get Account Book ready for next week.  Post list of next weeks excusrsions.

Saturday - P.M.

Take £2.50 Excursion Money.  Lead evening walk.  Fun and Games after supper.

Sunday - A.M.

Lead morning walk.

Sunday - P.M.

Elephant Party (if required).  Mondays Excusrsion List. Get Rec. ready for Service.  Arrange after Supper activity.

Monday - A.M.

Group Photograph.  Take Excusrsion.

Monday - P.M.

£2.50 from those who have not paid yet.   Tuesdays Excursion List.  Fun and Games after Supper.

Tuesday - A.M.

Take Excusrsion.

Tuesday - P.M.

Get Rec. ready for C.E. Meeting.  Put lists out for Tennis, Table Tennis and film and Group Photograph.  Arrange 20 Questions.

Wednesday - A.M.

Tennis and Table Tennis Tournaments.

Wednesday - P.M.

Take CAsh on Special Bus into Caernarvon.  Collect Film ?  Get tickets for those returning on Service Buses.  Buy Prizes.  List for Thursday Excursion.  Fancy Dress ?  Camp Fire?.

Thursday - A.M.

Take Excusrsion.

Thursday - P.M.

Paper on Dinner Table for Concert Items.  Get Rec. ready for Concert.

Friday - A.M.

Lead Excusrsion (take enough money  to pay cafe).  Complete Excusrion Accounts.  Buy Prizes.

Friday - P.M.

Check Coach Numbers with "Whiteway".   Settle Excursion Money ("Pay-out, Pay-In").  Fun and Games in Rec.  Arrange for someone to give Comradeship Talk.
N.B.  These Lists are intended as a guide and reminder.  Other duties and notices will, of course, be required from time to time.
