The village of
Beddgelert
The bridge over the Afon Glaslyn marks
the effective centre of the picturesque village of Beddgelert -
some 6 miles south east of Plas-y-Nant.
This delightful line of cottages look out over the
village green at Beddgelert.
A short stroll along the banks of the Glaslyn
brings you to Beddgelerts most famous
historical feature "Gelert's Grave". Legend has it that
this stone monument marks the resting place of "Gelert" the
faithfull hound of the medieval Welsh Prince Llywelyn the Great.
If you continue to walk along the Afon Glaslyn, this
is the view back to the village.
Just outside Bedgellert - on the A498 - is the 19th
century National Trust property of Craflwyn Hall
Also on the A498 is the magnificent Sygun copper mines
- pictured here are some of the spectacular stalactites and stalagmites
that have formed in the limestone caverns since the
mine workings were abandoned some 150 years ago.
