Beddgelert Forest

A mile to the north of the village on the A4085 lies Beddgelert Forest, where there are several waymarked paths.

Llyn Dinas

From Beddgelert, the walk heads along an easy level path by the banks of the Gwynant to Llyn Dinas - a site of great historical and mythological importance, said to be the place that the wizard Merlin buried his treasure.

Cross the river to the Sygun Copper Mine.

An optional stiff climb leads to a section of open hillside – following a well marked footpath – which gives a flavour of hill walking and some of the best views in Snowdonia.  Follow the path to a small hill overlooking Beddgelert, then descend via Gelerts Grave back to the village.

Aberglaslyn pass

An easy walk leads down the narrow valley to the bottom of the famous Aberglaslyn pass. This beautiful gorge is far better seen on foot than by car.

The riverside path is quite adventurous, with iron spikes in some sections to help you along. The final section is a gentle stroll through farmland back to Beddgelert.
