Peaks in the Moelwyns

Plas-y-Nant is pleased to provide you with information about the peaks in the northern part of the Moelwyns range of mountains - about 20-25 minutes from Plas-y-Nant. You can also click ......

Mountain Name

Height

OS Map / Grid Reference

Carnedd Moel Siabod 872m 2861ft 115/SH705546
Overlooking the village of Capel Curig, this mountain provides fine views of the Snowdon Horseshoe on a clear day. Used locally as an indicator of the weather - if you can see the top then Snowdon and the Glyders are probably also clear !
Allt Fawr 698m 2290ft 115/SH682475
Moel Druman 676m 2218ft 115/SH671476
Ysgafell Wen 672m 2205ft 115/SH667481
A good ridge walk taking in three summits.
Cnicht 689m 2260ft 115/SH645466
Not a real mountain ? more a bump on the end of a ridge. Superb views from the top. Means ?knight? as it looks like a knight's helmet. The main route is up the south ridge either from the south, or the west (up a gully that come out most of the way up).
Moel-yr-hydd 648m 2126ft 115/SH672454
Moelwyn Mawr 770m 2526ft 124/SH658449
Craigysgafn 689m 2260ft 124/SH660443
Moelwyn Bach 710m 2329ft 124/SH660437
Cnicht, Moel-yr-hydd, Moelwyn Mawr, Craigysgafn and Moelwyn Bach together make a good days walking ? or you can shorten the day by avoiding Cnicht and descending via the disused quarry
Moel Penamnen 620m 2034ft 115/SH716483
Manod Mawr North Top 658m 2159ft 124/SH727458
Manod Mawr 661m 2168ft 124/SH724447
Three none-to-clear summits in a wide expense of moor land above the quarry at Blaenau Ffestiniog.
